Itinerary

 

 

Days 1 and 2: USA to the Holy Land

Depart the US on an overnight flight. You will be welcomed by EO's airport representative and transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: The Galilee

Altar Mosaic in the church at Tabgha. Photo credit: Tim CargalParticipate in a special on board worship service as you cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee aboard a Kinnereth Sailing Company boat. Arrive in Capernaum, to visit the synagogue site where Jesus taught and worshipped. Travel to the Mount of Beatitudes and Tabgha where you'll visit the Church of the Fish and the Loaves. At the River Jordan you can remember your baptismal vows. At Kibbutz Nof Ginnosar you'll learn about the "Ancient Boat," a rare example of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed. Visualize life in Jesus' day when you visit Chorazin.

Day 4: Nazareth, Megiddo, Caesarea and Mt. Carmel

Ride through Cana on your way to Nazareth, Jesus' boyhood home. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo where 20 different cities lie superimposed. Visit the Roman aqueduct and theater at Caesarea, a center of the early Christians. Paul was imprisoned here before being taken to Rome for trial. Nearby  is Mt. Carmel where Elijah defeated the Baal prophets.

Day 5: Beit Shean, Jericho and Qumran

Visit the ruins of Beit Shean, one of the Roman cities Jesus passed through on his way from Galilee to Jerusalem. Travel to Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery and the community of the Essenes. In Jericho, visit the ruins of the the ancient city which was conquered by Joshua and view the Mount of Temptation.

Days 6 and 7: Bethlehem, Bethany and Jerusalem

In Bethlehem, visit the cave revered as the place where Jesus was born. Nearby view Shepherd's Fields. Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount and the Dome of the Rock. Pray in the Garden of Gethsemane and visit the Chapel of the Ascension. Travel to Bethany to visit the tomb where Jesus raised Lazarus. Glimpse the city Jesus knew when you view the model of first century Jerusalem. Enter the Old City and say a prayer for peace at the Western Wall. Sing a hymn in the Crusader Church of St. Anne and view the Pool of Bethesda. Retrace the events in the final hours of Jesus' life as you walk the Via Dolorosa, "the way of the Cross." Visit Herod's Antonia Fortress. Stand in reverence at the traditional site of Jesus' death and resurrection, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. 

Day 8: Leisure Day with optional Masada Trip

Explore on your own or visit Masada. Ride the cable car to the top to explore. Time permitting, you'll stop briefly at the shores of the Dead Sea for a quick dip.

Day 9: Jerusalem

Stand in the Upper Room, revered as the site of the Last Supper. Mt. Zion is also where you'll see King David's Tomb. Visit the house of the High Priest Caiaphas where Jesus was imprisoned. Worship at the Garden Tomb. Travel to Tel Aviv for your flight to the USA.

Day 10: Return to USA
