Travel Day: Arrival in Amman

Our travel to Amman was uneventful. Everyone met together at JFK Airport in New York from all their various starting places. Our flight departed on time, arrived early, and was without any significant turbulence.

We were met in Amman by our local tour guide, Omar Masarweh. The agenda for the day was limited to getting us to our hotel, The Amman Cham Palace. Once we checked into our rooms and freshened up, we had a delicious buffet meal with traditional Middle Eastern salads, roasted fish and chicken, beef, and an array of delicious desserts. A quick stroll around the hotel neighborhood, and then it was off to bed to try to bring our bodies around to the new local time.

If the trip was uneventful, the technical issues in getting the web updates ready proved to be anything but uneventful. We have run into both hardware and software difficulties in getting the pictures for the website, and timing problems on gaining access to the internet for posting the update. Fortunately, a work around has been found for the photo problem. Beginning with our next update there will be photos as well as text to assure that we are, indeed, having a wonderful time. And frankly, you didn't miss much in pictures for today--just photos of weary travelers struggling to rest during the flight (and, okay, perhaps some pictures of us enjoying our dinner).
